Jishnu Pranoy's father KP Ashokan met state police chief TP Senkumar in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, seeking his intervention to help his son get justice.

Ashokan met Senkumar and expressed concern that the probe team has failed to nab the culprits even six months after his death. Other issues including lapses in the initial stages of investigation and the family's demand for a CBI probe were also discussed in the meeting.

After the meeting, Ashokan told the media that Senkumar has promised him immediate action and that the family has hope for a fair and impartial probe under the new DGP.

An earlier visit by Jishnu's family to Thiruvananthapuram to meet the then police chief Loknath Behera on April 5 courted a controversy, after Jishnu's mother Mahija and other family members were injured when the police tried to move them from their protest venue.

Jishnu, 18, a native of Nadapuram near Kozhikode, was found dead at the college hostel of Nehru College of Engineering at Pambady near Thrissur in January. His family has been alleging that he ended his life due to physical and mental harassment by the college authorities.

A case has been registered against five persons including Nehru College group chairman PK Krishnadas.
