Swine flu claims pregnant woman in Vadakara

  • Nisha was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode with high fever earlier this week

A woman, who was seven months pregnant, died due to swine flu near Vadakara in Kozhikode on Friday. 

Nisha (34), the deceased, was a native of Madapally. She was admitted to a private hospital in the city with high fever earlier this week and a test result proved she was suffering from H1N1 influenza virus.

Nisha was then was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, according to Mathrubhumi, but she failed to show signs of improvement and died on Friday night. 

This is the second death due to H1N1 virus reported from Kozhikode. 

Meanwhile, 10 more people, including a 3-year-old, died of fever in Kerala on Friday, making the death toll from epidemics this year rise to 114.

The number of those affected was highest in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
