An investigation conducted by Asianet News revealed that the colleges are charging any amount they like and is not following government rule. The state government had fixed the fees at ₹29,000 per year.

Asianet News team approached Sobha BEd College in Muhamma, Alappuzha, under the pretence of buying an application. They demanded ₹78,000 for the whole course, while the maximum amount they could get, as per government rules, was only ₹61,000. The amount was much more at Crescent BEd College in Pazhayangadi, Kannur, the authorities demanded ₹90,000.

This is the situation across the state, and it was found that the colleges are also buying huge amount as donations. Salafi BEd College in Chekkikulam in Kannur demanded ₹25,000.
