Thiruvananthapuram: A leaked audio of Thiruvananthapuram DCC President Palode Ravi has sparked shockwaves across Kerala politics. In a candid conversation with a grassroots leader from Pullampara, Ravi bluntly predicted that the Congress will slide into third place in the upcoming local body elections, while the CPM is set to retain power. He warned that Muslim voters might drift toward the LDF, while “a few” could even switch allegiance to the BJP. Ravi also cautioned that the BJP would make aggressive inroads in around 60 assembly constituencies, leveraging financial incentives to sway vote.

"See what BJP is going to do in 60 assembly constituencies. They will buy votes by giving money like they did in the Parliament elections. Congress will fall to the third position in the elections. The Marxist party will continue to rule. This is what is going to happen in Kerala," he was heard saying in the conversation. The leaked conversation was between Palode Ravi and a local Congress leader.

Speaking to Asianet News, Palode Ravi said that the message was intended to strengthen the organizational structure of the Congress party, and that party workers have understood his message. “If the organizational mechanisms are not strengthened, the party will lag in elections. Such messages are constantly being conveyed to the lower-level organizational structures,” he stated.

Palode Ravi stated that the aim was to eliminate personal differences among cadres of local units. “Congress should be united to overthrow the CPIM government. Only a small portion of the phone conversation has been released,” he added.
