At last, women passengers in Namma Metro will get a separate bogie for themselves. But, they may have to wait until December when new bogies are added to the present fleet of trains.

Bengaluru Development in-charge Minister KJ George - answering to a question by S Shadakshari - told the Legislative Assembly that in the coming days the number of Metro bogies will be increased to six. At present, the Metro has only three bogies and most of the time, it is packed on weekdays. Although the Metro has messages suggesting the male passengers to offer their seat for pregnant, women with children and also senior citizens, women passengers find it rather inconveniencing to travel in the jam-packed trains.

The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has already been requested to provide 150 additional coaches in March. Of that six bogies are expected to arrive in December. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is spending over Rs 1,400 cr to induct 150 coaches, reports Bangalore Mirror.
