A 12-year-old girl from Bengaluru was allegedly sexually assaulted by six minor boys for over 30 minutes in Bengaluru. But the police are allegedly trying to hush the matter by registering a case of eve teasing. Here is what exactly happened.

The report in Bangalore Mirror stated that the girl was abducted, gagged and tied up by six minor boys and was brutally sexually assaulted near KR Puram Railway Station on July 10. When the girl's parents went to book a case in Ramamurthynagar Police Station, the police is said to have filed an eve teasing case. They even refused to file a FIR under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act.

A woman walked by the area when the boys left the girl and ran away. The woman rescued the girl and reunited her with her parents.

The victim is a daughter of daily wage labourers. The parents went to the Ramamurthynagar Police Station the next day and filed a complaint. They were asked to sign a document. The parents thought it was a FIR, but when no action was taken even after ten days, they came to know that a case was not filed.

The family had to make many rounds to the police station. But no action was taken against the culprits. Instead, the police tried to convince the family that action will be taken (advice) to the culprits without filing a complaint.

But on July 20, the victim developed severe stomach ache and had to be admitted to the KR Puram Government Hospital. She explained the tragic incident to the doctor, who intimated the police. Following the intimation by the doctor, even though a complaint was not filed, the police called the victim and parents to the police station at 11.30 PM. The family refused to come, but the next day they were taken to the police station and were made to wait till late night in the station. The police had told the victim that they had arrested two persons.

But the victim is clear that those arrested had nothing to do with her assault. Meanwhile, she has identified three men involved in sexually assaulting her through their Facebook photos. But still, the police have not taken any action against them.

It is also said that the victim was quizzed by a policeman whereas according to the rules a policewoman should have been asked to question the girl. However, the girl also told the Bangalore Mirror that a policewoman was allowed to speak only for a brief time and she was questioned by a policeman.

But according to the police, the victim and her family have changed statements over the time. In the beginning, the family wanted the boys to leave their daughter alone, and that is why FIR was not filed and took a non-cognizable report. Then later, police alleged that the family got the girl admitted to the KR Government Hospital and they were intimated by the doctor, and FIR was filed on the basis of mother's statement.

The police have refuted the charges that they victim and family was made to sit till late night in the police station.
