Veerappan’s associate absconding for 25 years arrested

  • The Ramapura police have arrested an associate of slain forest brigand Veerappan.
  • For 25 years he went absconding and lived as a weaver with wife and children.
  • He was living in the Jagannath Doddi village in Tomiyar Palyam.
  • Several cases have been booked against him.
Veerappans associate absconding for 25 years arrested

The Ramapura police have arrested an associate of slain forest brigand Veerappan 25 years after he went absconding, reported Kannada Prabha.

Shivaswamy alias Double Gundi (55), resident of Veppade village in Erode district in Tamil Nadu has been arrested.  He was living as a weaver with wife and children at D G Puduru village in Banglapudur police limits in Erode district for the past 25 years.

He has been accused of being a part of Veerappan gang that attacked the Ramapura police station in 1992 May 20 and killed several police personnel.  In the same year he was a part of Veerappan gang that killed 5 police officers on Aug 14. He was also an accused in the 1993 Palar bomb blast incident.

He was also the main accused in the kidnap of Ramamurthi, son of black stone mines owner Sampangi Ramaiah in Hanur on Feb 2, 1992.  On November 11, 1992 he kidnapped one Chinnagoundar of Nellur village and killed him.

Several other cases are filed against him in police stations of Hanuru, Ramapura, Male Mahadeshwara Betta.  He had managed to escape police and not present himself at the court. He was living in the Jagannath Doddi village in Tomiyar Palyam.

He was arrested by Ramapura police on Monday.
