Upendra has announced his Prajakiya Party with 7 ideals listed out, redefining politics. In a pre-recorded message running for 13 minutes, he has explained each of the point in detail. He has even given a call to people to study their localities and think of probable solutions and send it to him either by post or e-mail. He says truth is the first to be taken and hence he does not believe in accumulating Party fund. “I will not put one rupee and will not take one rupee. This is not politics but Prajakiya, a way to reach out to people without spending money” he said. Here are the 7-point aspirations he has listed out:
1. The ‘key’ of governance should be with the people and not with the ‘kings’. Hence the ‘key’ in Prajakiya is significant.
2. Politicians are neither leaders nor social workers. They are employees of public. They take salary from the tax paid by the public. Hence the term ‘service’ is bogus, call it duty.
3. We scrutinise strictly before appointing workers for housework. While selecting our representatives, check, interview, examine and elect only those candidates who answer well.
4. The elected candidates must live in the constituency and attempt to solve local problems. Must inform about activities undertaken in web sites and social media.
5. Vidhana Soudha should work like a TV centre and all MLAs must work like its reporters. 224 constituencies of MLAs must be displayed on big LED screens and ministers must constantly keep checking development activities.
6. Money and Party funds start corruption. Candidates must work directly at the constituencies and through social media and propagate without spending money.
7. It is natural to doubt if this will be successful. It is a political experiment. For the pessimists no suggestions can be given. For the optimists, hundred suggestions can be given.
