In the Chamarajanagar Hospital, two patients with different ailments are being made to sleep in the same single bed. As if this is not enough some patients were found sleeping on the floor, even without a bedspread.

This is the sad condition of patients at the district hospital in Chamarajanagar. If an old lady with her walking stick is seen sleeping on the floor, another old lady was seen taking nebulisation, sitting on the floor.

The hospital has the 300-bed capacity, and the patients are more than it can admit. However, the hospital authorities decided to admit all of them than sending them away. But they could not even arrange for bed spreads or beds to be put on the ground.

The main reason for so many patients thronging the hospital is said to be the fear of dengue and viral fever. With the change of weather, many are suffering from fever, and as most of them have symptoms of dengue, they are thronging the hospital.

The Public TV reports said that per day there are at least 250 patients with symptoms of dengue and 1,500 people with viral fever coming to the hospital. But the lack of beds and space in the hospital has created an inconvenience to the patients as well as doctors and nurses.

However, how safe are patients of dengue and fever sharing beds and sleeping on the floor is a serious question to be asked.
