After discussing with the ministry, the local administration of Mangaluru has already examined two spots in Adyar and Surathkal nearby National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK).

The New Indian Express quoted Dr Jagadeesha as confirming that top officials from the Union Ministry of Commerce have met the commissioner and asked for an opinion. Also, he confirmed that though there is nothing in written as of now, but the conversation clearly indicated that Mangaluru might become India’s first startup district.

The commissioner was also quoted as saying that the local administration is considering an area of 20,000 sqft located in the middle of the city having the right social ecosystem for IT and BT professionals. Since startup needs to be socially connected to gain success, so the location is crucial.
