Investigation into Khasnis brothers’ chit fund scam requires who invested in the fund, to testify The investors now have been called to Bengaluru by CID officers. The poor investors in the chit fund are finding it difficult to bear travel and boarding expenses

The CID officials investigating the Rs 400 crore chit fund scam by Khasnis brothers of Kalaghatagi, recently arrested at Mathura and brought to Bengaluru, are summoning major investors in the chit fund to Bengaluru to testify. This has caused the black money hoarders, who had invested huge amounts in the chit fund to sweat. They are scared that the police may question them about the source of revenue and get them into further trouble.

On the other hand, the poor who had invested their meagre savings in the chit fund and lost it, are finding it difficult to further spend on trips to Bengaluru.

On Monday 17 of them were called to Bengaluru and made to sit till 9 pm without any investigation. When they asked about food and boarding, the police are said to have snubbed at them saying “do you think you have come to your father-in-law's’ place to be taken care of?”

They said they are already under stress to repay the loans made to invest in the chit fund and the additional expenses of visiting Bengaluru would be heavy on them. Hence they requested that CID officials should conduct investigations at Kalghatagi. A Farmer Kalmesh Gadada said as such he has lost all money in the chit fund and has no money to go to Bengaluru as summoned by CID officials.

He appealed that the officers should go to Kalghatgi to investigate. Interestingly, the investors in Harsha Enterprises chit fund, run by the three Khasnis brothers, have come together to help each other in facing the police investigation. They keep asking what questions the police would ask and what answer to be given, as if preparing for exam. Some are refusing to answer any call coming from unknown numbers; others have switched off their mobile phones. Some have got admitted into hospital.

SP, CID, Siddaramaiah, has said that the accused Khasnis brothers in the multiple crore chit fund scam are in their custody in Bengaluru. A list has been prepared based on the complaints lodged by over 4000 and only important persons are being summoned to Bengaluru for questioning.
