Bengaluru-based terror suspect has been punished with five-year rigorous imprisonment and Rs 5000 fine by the Shimla Court.

Bengaluru-based Abid Khan alias Abu Mohammed has been sentenced to RI with relation to his connections with the banned terror outfit ISIS. Abid Khan had put forth the argument in the court that his parents were aged and thus to send him to jail in Karnataka.

But after the hearing, the court refused to grant him his wish and sent him to Khanda jail in Shimla.

Abid Khan was living under a false name Paul C Nio at a Church in Himachal Pradesh when the police arrested him. He was held on December 17 in 2016.

Abid has confessed to having been operating from the ISIS's secret unit. He is also said to have given important details about the ISIS operation.

Abid knew six languages and was planning to fly to Syria after meeting his friend in Indonesia. However, as he did not have enough money, he could not fly to Indonesia.
