Thanks to Tamil Nadu, lorries in Karnataka to go on indefinite strike

Recently the lorries were on indefinite strike opposing the GST and its effects on the transport service. However, after some months they are back with another demand.
This time, the lorry Association is pressing the government to de-silt the Kannambadi Dam. They are not interested in the water but in transporting the silt. Recently Tamil Nadu government gave permission for de-silting the Mettur dam and gave the contract of transporting the silt to Tamil Nadu lorries.Â
According to the lorry association, this has helped the lorry owners and drivers in Tamil Nadu. Taking a cue from it, the lorry association has sought the government to take measures to de-silt the Kannambadi Dam. They have also demanded that the silt must be transported by the lorries of Karnataka registration only. If no action in this regard is taken, all the lorries will go on indefinite strike, the association has warned.Â
