Karnataka: Teachers and lecturers to get promotions
- Based on seniority eligible high school teachers will be promoted as pre-university college lecturers.
- And PU lecturers will be promoted to degree colleges lecturers.
- Attempts are being made to amend the Government Appointment Act to promote teachers and lecturers.
- 1357 additional lecturers will be deputed to government aided educational institutions.
- The striking MLCs are meeting the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sept 15 to discuss their various demands.
FollowBased on seniority, eligible high school teachers will be promoted as pre-university college lecturers and PU lecturers will be promoted to degree colleges lecturers, announced Education Minister Tanvir Sait, reported Kannada Prabha.
Speaking to newspersons on Wednesday he said the system of promoting high school teachers as PUC lecturers was stopped in 2012. There is no system of promoting PU lecturers to degree colleges. Hence attempts are being made to amend the Government Appointment Act to promote teachers and lecturers, he said.
Responding to a question about reappointment of additional lecturers he said 1357 lecturers are additional as the number of students to PU Arts and Science departments. They will be deputed to government aided educational institutions, he said.
A meeting of the representatives has been called on Sept 14 at the Sarvashikashana Abhiyan to discuss the demands of Midday Meal Employees. After discussions their demands will be looked into he said.
Meanwhile, the striking MLCs are meeting the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sept 15 to discuss their various demands, informed Education Minister Tanvir Sait.
The Minister said concession with regard to seniority has been given to husband and wife both in government service for teachers transfers but it is not possible presently to give the concession to those teachers who have married persons in service in other fields. It may be looked into in future, he said.
