Bengaluru: Stale food served at Indira Canteen

  • Two Indira Canteens at Yelahanka and Narayanapura served stale food on Friday.
  • BBMP officials arrived on the spot and seized the stale food and a complaint has been lodged.

Stale food served at Indira Canteen

The State Government’s ambitious project Indira Canteen has served stale food and caused much embarrassment, it has come light late.  Two Indira Canteens at Yelahanka and Narayanapura served stale food on Friday and the enraged public took the canteen staff to task, reported Kannada Prabha.

Immediately after getting the information BBMP officials arrived on the spot and seized the stale food and a complaint has been lodged. According to sources, the food was prepared at the White Petal kitchen at Palace Grounds. The rice cooked at night was made into breakfast item and by the time it reached the Canteen it had spoilt.  Immediately public complained, informed a senior officer at BBMP.

Speaking to Kannada Prabha Mayor G Padmavathi said only one day a complaint was received that spoilt food was served at Yelahanka and Narayanapura canteens. The food supplied to the canteen has been seized by BBMP officials and investigations are on.

The BBMP officials said that there was no problem the first day. On the second day, fresh food was found on top and old stale food was found at the bottom.  The food samples have been sent to the lab for testing they said.
