The Indira Canteen at Cantonment Railway Station, Jayamahal ward, is almost 75 per cent complete and the railways have taken objection to it stating that the land belongs to South Western Railways and permission has not been taken for the construction of canteen there. Hence it has issued a notice to the BBMP to stop the construction immediately.

However, the local corporator MK Gunashekar has denied the claim and says the land belongs to Slum Development Board, which was developed by BBMP and a park was constructed there. The Indira Canteen is 75 percent completed and now all of a sudden the railways have put up a board claiming that the land belongs to them, he said. The BBMP officials are in talks with railways in this regard. Gunashekar says they have the relevant documents and has invited railways to prove their claim by showing relevant documents.
