Cabinet has approved Matru Purna project to feed pregnant and new mothers, free. Food will be served at Anganwadis all over the State, as part of mid day meal, irrespective of caste, religion. Students of government and aided schools in Mysuru and Raichuru districts to get flavoured milk. Project to come into force from this month itself.
Lakhs of pregnant and new mothers will be provided free food at State Anganawadis as part of mid day meals. The project Matru Yojane is to come into force from this month itself. The State Cabinet has approved the Rs 202 crore ambitious project, reported Kannada Prabha.

For students of government and aided schools in Mysuru and Raichuru districts, studying in first to 10th standard flavoured milk will be provided, on a trial basis. If found successful it will be extended to all districts. The Ksheera Bhagya Yojane of providing milk on 5 days in a week has been extended to students up to 10th standard. The remuneration for cooks and assistants at Anganwadis will get an increase of Rs 200 per month.
The Samagra Shishu Abhivruddi Yojane that consisted of providing nutritious food to students that was introduced in Bagalakote district on a trial basis ha snow been extended to all districts, informed Minister T B Jayachandra after the meeting.
The State Government has also decided to bear the additional expenses of Rs 285 crore for Ksheera Bhagya Yojane of providing milk to students of first to 10th standard at all government and aided schools for 5 days a week from July. Milk was given only to primary class students and it has been extended till 10th standard.
