Pourakarmikas stage protest against harassment by contractors

Thousands of Pourakarmiaks, both contract and permanent, staged a protest in front of the BBMP joint commissioner’s office at Malleshwara  on Wednesday demanding protection from harassment by contractors and also wage arrears, reported Kannada Prabha.

The Pourakarmikas alleged that the contractors were harassing them by not paying wages on time and deducting money from them in the guise of Provident Fund and ESI.  They also alleged that they were subjected to sexual, caste harassment and even assaulted. They wrote a public letter to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and also collecting signatures in support for online petition.
