FollowA departmental inquiry has been initiated by DGP against Tumkur district ASP Anand Kumar for pressurising the special public prosecutor to show leniency towards Gangaram Baderia, the accused in Janthakal mines scam Revenue Department Chief Secretary, so that he could get bail.
Five days after Baderia bailed out, Anand Kumar was transferred from Bengaluru to Home Minister’s hometown, generated suspicion. Also, Prabhulinga, who is Baderia’s close relative, is the personal secretary to Home Minister.
Gangaram Baderia was arrested by Special Investigation Team (SIT), in connection with Janthakal Mines scam and Baderia had submitted to Lokayukta Special Court to grant him bail. ASP Anand Kumar had brought pressure on the SIT official to go soft in his arguments to facilitate Baderia to get bail.
SIT Chief IGP Charan Reddy had informed about this to DGP R K Dutta. Taking serious note of this, DGP has instructed Bengaluru CoP Praveen Sood to conduct a departmental inquiry against Anand Kumar.
Annad Kumar had visited the SPP’s office and introduced himself as the CCB DCP and asked under what category he was filing objection for bail. When the SPP took objection to this, Anand Kumar requested him to go lenient on Gangaram Baderia.
Also, Anand Kumar was personally present during all court hearing, SIT sources say. The SPP had reported this to SIT Chief, who in turn informed IGP R K Dutta.
Dutta has referred it to CoP Praveen Sood to conduct a departmental inquiry against Anand Kumar.
