PGR Sindhia to contest against CM's son from Varuna constituency?
- For nearly a decade, PGR Sindhia had remained aloof from active politics
- He is considered one of the architects of Janata Parivar movement
- Varuna constituency is gaining lot of significance as Chief Minister's son Dr Yatindra is expected to contest from here
FollowFormer Janata Party veteran PGR Sindhia who rejoined the JD(S) again - after being in political oblivion for over a decade - may contest against Dr Yatindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from Varuna constituency. Yatindra is expected to debut from this constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Sindhia who is considered as one of the architects of Janata Parivar movement in the State had remained out of politics, after his brief stint with Samajwadi Party.

It may be recalled here that Sindhia who has been a former minister and an influential leader from the JD(S) had joined Samajwadi Party, a decade ago. However, after he was unceremoniously ousted from the party, Sindhia had remained out of the politics. In fact, during the last Lok Sabha elections, rumours were rife that Sindhia would join either Congress or BJP. However, remained neutral.

However, with Assembly elections fast approaching in the State, he met JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda at his residence on Sunday and expressed his willingness to join the party again.
It is being speculated that he may contest from Varuna constituency, against Dr Yatindra. It may be recalled here that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sacrificed his celebrated Varuna constituency to allow his son to debut in politics. It is speculated that BJP will field former IPS officer and party leader Shankar Bidari here.
In Varuna constituency, Vokkaligas, Lingayats and backward classes are dominant. Considering these caste equations, the JD(S) is expected to field veteran Sindhia.
