The kingpin in the petrol bunk theft that shook the country has been arrested in Hubballi along with his 5 gang members. Prashanth and his associate techie Vivek Shetty were arrested by Noolkar police station at Hubballi, reported Kannada Prabha.

Prashanth was an employee with a Chinese fuel distribution company. Later he imported Chinese chips and fixed them in petrol bunks, in collaboration with the bunk owners. The chip would show the correct reading but the actual fuel dispersed would be less. For every litre of petrol or diesel the chip would dispense only 800 ml and show the reading as 1000 ml. Hence 200 ml saving on every litre sold was a huge profit and hence the bunk owners also joined him.
The police were on the lookout for Prashanth and he was arrested at Hubballi along with his 5 associates by Noolkar police.
