Pejawara Swamy celebrates Janmasthami for record tenth time

Pejawara Swamy celebrates Janmasthami for record 5th time

The historical Vittala Pindi Utsava at Udupi Srikrisha mutt on Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with pomp and glory on Thursday, reported Kannada Prabha.

This is the record fifth Paryaya for Pejawara Swamy and the tenth Janmashtami he is celebrating at the mutt.  He offered the Arghya to Srikrishna at 12.34 midnight along with Sri Vidhyasagara Teertha, Sode mutt seer Sri Vishwavallabha Teertha and the junior pontiff of Udupi Krishna mutt Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha.

The idol was attractively decorated and special feats were offered. At 3 pm the Krishna idol was carried in a procession in golden chariot and taken along the main streets of Udupi.  Thousands participated in the Vittala Pindi and Krishna Leelotsava. The streets were jam packed with devotees. The procession took an hour to reach the Madhva Sarovar tank where the mud Krishna was immersed. After that Tiger Dance competitions were held.
