The State Congress IT unit’s campaign idea of Once Again Siddaramaiah 2018 and KPCC President Dr Parameshwar’s reaction to it has created a flutter in the Congress circle. While some are supporting G Parameshwar saying it is not in Congress culture to announce chief minister candidate before the election, some are supporting Siddaramaiah stating High Command has already given orders that the poll campaign must be carried out under the leadership of Siddaramaiah.
It is natural that the one who leads the campaign becomes the chief minister. Hence it is not wrong to project Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister, they feel, reported Kannada Prabha.
Senior leader Jafar Shareef retorted that if lucky let him become chief minister for ten years, nobody is denying. But to project as a chief minister even before the election, against the Party culture is not right. Nobody is bigger than the Party, he said.
Speaking to media persons he explained that the Party has a tradition. Leading a government and leading the party are two different things. During election the Party goes to the people. Hence the tradition of the Party must be maintained. All are abided by the decision taken by the Party after the election. Instead give good governance and win people’s confidence, he said.
MLA K N Rajanna said he has been in Congress since 1976. Since then Congress does not announce CM candidate before the election. After getting majority at the legislative meeting CM is decided. “Till then anybody can claim to be the next CM. Even I can claim,” he said.
MP Dhruva Narayan said since the election campaign will be led by Siddaramaiah, if Congress wins with clear majority he will be the CM, the legislative meeting is but a formality. Siddaramaiah has performed well, people are in support of him hence the campaign will be led by him and he will be the next CM, he said.
