Ola faces music from Lahari Velu for playing out new tracks

  • Case booked against Ola Company CEO for illegally downloading songs from films not yet released and playing in Ola cabs
  • The company was found to be playing songs through all its premium cabs in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata and Delhi, like FM radio
  • Main accused Ola CEO Bhavesh Agarwal and chief technician Ankit Bhati are said to be abroad
Ola cabs Lahari audio downloaded illegal songs

Lahari Company owner Velu has lodged a complaint against Ola Cab Company (ANI Technologies) for illegally downloading songs of films yet to be released and playing in all their premium cab services across the metropolitan cities Delhi, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. A special server set up in Singapore was used to transmit the songs like FM radio to Ola network.

Songs of 'Baahubali', 'Sundaranga Jana', 'Gautamiputra Shatakarni' and other Hindi, Kannada, Telugu songs were being downloaded through an expensive instrument called Prime Playboy. The transmission was carried out through Ola office, reports Kannada Prabha.

Lahari Velu said he was returning from abroad and took a cab from airport and was surprised to hear latest songs for which Lahari Company held the rights being played in the cab. He found out that the Ola Cab service had this privilege at major metropolitan cities. Ola definitely had not taken permission for it. He lodged a complaint with the Jeevan Bhimanagar police.

The police raided the Ola Office (ANI Technologies) and confiscated electronic gadgets used to download and transmit songs. Police are also trying to track down the CEO of ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd, who is said to be visiting the US and the Chief Technical Officer who is in Singapore.
