No ticket KP Nanjundi bids goodbye to Congress

KP Nanjundi, city-based jeweller and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary has bid goodbye to Congress party as there is no hope of him getting a post in the Legislative Council.

The Congress had earlier promised Nanjundi of a ticket to contest for the post. But now, with news of him not getting the ticket, he has quit the party. This development is quite a matter of concern to the route politicians are taking.

From veteran leader SM Krishna to KP Nanjundi has the political party and leader’s identity with the party limited to the tickets and perks?

Nanjundi convened a press meet at his house in Dollars Colony and said that he served the Congress party for 16 years. I am not sad about the developments in the party but I am not happy the way the leaders in the party are behaving.

He also said, “Many people had told me not to join Congress, but I had requested the leaders of the Vishwakarma community to extend their support to the party. But now I repent my decision and because of my wrong choice my community has to bear the brunt of it.”

Nanjundi said that he will not submit his resignation to the state leaders. He plans to go to New Delhi, meet Sonia Gandhi and hand over his resignation. I will not come back to the party, even if Sonia Gandhi asks me to,” he said.

It can be noted that AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi had on Monday told in Bengaluru that tickets will not be given to outsiders and non-performers. Under which category Nanjundi was denied the ticket is not sure, but the reason for his leaving the party is ticket for sure.
