Nagawara-Bagaluru Metro route finalised to connect Kempegowda International Airport
- The government had earlier proposed for a high-speed train to link airport
- The BMRCL had invited public opinion on proposed routes
- Nagawara-Bagaluru via Thanisandra won the highest votes
FollowBengalureans who were waiting for a Metro connectivity to the Kempegowda International Airport have a reason to smile now. For, the government has zeroed in on the Nagawara-Bagalur Metro route via Thanisandra to connect Kempegowda International Airport.
This would perhaps also mean that the government would not go ahead with its plan to have a high-speed train to the airport. Earlier, The Rail India Technical and Economic Service (Rites) had proposed nine routes for the Metro airport link.
Following this, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had invited public opinion on these nine proposed routes on its website. However, of the nine proposed routes, Nagawara-Bagalur route was voted the highest with nearly 5,560 votes as many considered it the most practical. The route passes through Nagawara, Thanisandra and Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra. However, a decision would be taken after looking at the feasibility report.
