Mysore Maharaja to be blessed with a child royal family elated

It is a happy occasion in the royal family of Mysuru. Maharaja Yaduveera Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the Maharaja of Mysuru, will soon be blessed with a child, sources from within the family said.

Suvarna News has reported that Trishika Kumari, wife of Yaduveera Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, is over four months pregnant. The people of the old Mysore region that includes Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts are elated by the news.

Maharaja Yaduveera, who ascended the throne two years after the demise of his great-uncle and former Maharaja of Mysuru, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, is the 27th Maharaja of Mysuru. He was adopted by the previous ruler’s wife Pramoda Devi since there was no natural heir to the throne. He became the Maharaja in 2015.

According to folklore, the family was cursed by Alamelamma, wife of chieftain Srirangaraya of Srirangapatna. After the annexation of Srirangapatna by Raja Wadiyar in 1610, she was pursued by the Wadiyar’s men. She placed a curse that the Wadiyar king should have no heir and that the family should end before she jumped to her death into the river Cauvery. So, either incidentally or accidentally, there have been no children for the Maharajas in alternate generations.
