Mentor sulks in BJP whereas DK Shivakumar is shining

SM Krishna, the veteran politician, is the mentor, who brought DK Shivakumar to the fore in Congress politics. When after over five decades of a stint in Congress, SM Krishna quit the party and joined BJP, there were speculations that DK Shivakumar might follow his mentor.

Instead, Shivakumar decided to stay back. Though he did not say anything about his mentor alleging the Congress of acting like managers instead of leaders, he did not follow his suit. However, SM Krishna got a grand welcome in BJP, but after that, he was nowhere to be seen.

Even when his disciple DK Shivakumar was undergoing IT raids, SM Krishna did not utter a word- negative or positive. However, it looks like Shivakumar handled the IT raids successfully giving the High Command a clear indication that he can handle any situation in Karnataka with dignity and ease.

His words 'I will never put my party in an embarrassing situation," became true when Ahmed Patel won the Rajya Sabha seat. DK Shivakumar had hosted the Gujarat Congress MLAs (44 of them) who were brought to Bengaluru's Eagleton Resort to save them from the clutches of operation BJP to defeat Ahmed Patel.

DK Shivakumar's behaviour, public presence and handling of the situation without creating more controversy has made the High Command happy. Currently, the Energy Minister of Karnataka is likely to be given powerful position in Congress party.

Whereas, SM Krishna who joined BJP in search of green pastures is fading away faster than he was in the Congress. Except for Cauvery water issue, he is not seen talking about any other burning issue, be it Kannada flag, Lingayat religion, Hindi Beda campaign or even his new found party's interest killing of RSS member in Mangaluru.

It looks like he has been sidelined by the BJP. Even Srinivas Prasad or V Somanna, who joined BJP are nowhere seen in the party meetings or campaigns. Is it a clear indication that BJP pulls leaders just to make them inactive?

SM Krishna is a live example for this, as he is also not seen in any decisive meetings of BJP, nor is being consulted (being a veteran leader). It looks like he is sulking as a political leader in BJP, whereas DK Shivakumar who got his initial lessons of politics from SM Krishna is shining and is all set to take a higher position in the party.
