Mangaluru Mayor Kavitha Sanil, who made news on Saturday for delivering a friendly punch to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the inauguration of National Karate Championship, is in news yet again for winning the Gold Medal in the over 65 kg section Black Belt, reports Kannada Prabha.

Fighting after a gap of nine years Kavitha Sanil beat Nisha Naik with a 7-3 points. Kavitha had won international championships three times and was a national champion between 1992 and 2008 consecutively. She is a mother of two now but has been practising for two months prior to the championship. Responding to the victory, Kavitha said “After nine years and two kids, to win a gold medal at national championship is thrilling. I have worked hard for it and my Karate coaches made it possible.”
