In yet another incident of harassing girls, a 32-year old man who works as a journalist in a Malayalam newspaper has been arrested for flashing outside Mount Carmel College in Vasanthnagar, reported Bangalore Mirror.

The man, Vijesh, had reportedly been flashing the students on Loop Road, when they came to pick-up their two-wheelers.

He had been harassing the students for a month. A group of 10 students complained to the police about his activities.

Bangalore Mirror quoted a cop saying, “He had been at it for almost a month. After we arrested him, he confessed that flashing gave him pleasure.” Vijesh would wait at the parking lot across the road from MCC every day and target not only lone students, but even groups of them.

The High Grounds police have registered a case against him under Sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

The accused is married and has a small child. He was a resident of Kammanahalli. After a complaint was registered against him, he resigned from his job.

The police say that the cases against him are bailable. However, if the students stand witness against him, he will be convicted. He could be facing rigorous imprisonment up to three years.

The police have recorded the statements of the students, who have also identified the accused after he was arrested based on the CCTV footages available in the vicinity. The bike that Vijesh used during these incidents had ‘Press’ written on it. This helped the police identify him easily.

There have been several incidents of indecent exposure over the years. A 31-year-old man, who was travelling in an early morning flight from Bangalore to Mumbai on June 27, 2017, landed behind bars for touching a co-passenger inappropriately and flashing at her.

Back in 2013, a man was arrested for disrobing before two minor girls on a road in Wilson Garden.
