Mahadayi: 6 farmers on hunger strike take ill

Of the farmers on hunger strike until death at the Raitha Bhavana in Navalagund demanding implementation of Mahadayi Project, six have taken seriously ill and medical care was summoned to the spot, on Tuesday, reports Kannada Prabha.

Following the development, Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Karjagi has assured the farmers that their demands will be met and appealed the farmers to end their strike. The farmers were on hunger strike since three days. Bennappa Kurahatti, Ravigowda Patil, Sangappa Nidavani, Yallappa Dadibavi, Shivappa Sangati and Hussainsaab Nadaf took seriously ill and medical aid was summoned to them. Another farmer Basayya Mathapathi who was also on hunger strike had to give up as his mother was critical.

Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj visited the farmers on strike and is enquiring about their health.
