Lights out for Nandi Hills as public entry banned till New Year morning

With the expected increase in traffic, air and noise pollution, instances of drinking and driving, illegal activities and issues with mob control at Nandi Hills, the Chikkaballapura district administration has banned public entry. The entry for public is restricted from 4pm December 31, 2018 to 8am January 1, 2019

Public heading towards Nandi Hills to celebrate New Year and start the year with a view of the sunrise from the top of the hills received a jolt as the Chikkaballapura district administration has banned public entry from 4 am December 31 to 8 am January 1.

Talking to Newsable. N Ramesh, Station Officer of Nandi Hills said that this decision has been taken to ensure the safety of the public and to save the environment.  

"The decision was taken to curb illegal activity, drinking and drinking, entry of unruly mob," said N Ramesh.

He further added that the deputy commissioner Anirudh Sravan and Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy took this decision keeping public safety and environment in the mind.

Last year about 15,000 people visited Nandi Hills and left a huge garbage collection including liquor bottles. 

"Keeping this vulnerability in mind, we even stopped booking guest houses for Dec 31 night," said Ramesh.
