KPSC scam: Govt willing to prosecute the guilty, including tainted officials

  • All accused, including the tainted officials of KPSC involved in appointment scam will be submitted for prosecution.
  • The State government is serious about prosecuting even the KPSC members, involved in the scam
  • Letter will be written to the President of India, requesting prior-permission.
  • The Division Bench has given time till June 15 to inform when the letter will be written.

 

KPSC scam Govt willing to prosecute the guilty including tainted officials

The Karnataka State government confirmed to the High Court, on Thursday, that it is willing to prosecute all accused in the KPSC appointment scam, including the KPSC members. A letter to the President of India will be written, requesting prior-permission in this regard, the High Court was informed.
A Division Bench consisting Justice H G Ramesh and Justice John Michael Cunha heard the appeal filed by social activist T J Abraham requesting the State government to sanction prior -permission to prosecute tainted members of KPSC. State Additional Advocate General Ponnanna clarified to the Bench that a CID inquiry was conducted regarding the KPSC appointment scam and the government is willing to prosecute the tainted KPSC members. 
He requested 3 weeks time to write to the President of India and obtain prior-permission. In response the Bench asked if the government is really serious about prosecuting the members and Ponnanna answered in the affirmative. The Bench said it cannot allow 3 weeks of time and asked to clarify on June 15, when the letter to the President of India would be written by the State government and adjourned the case.
