Kannadiga CBI officer investigated Ram Rahims case

After years of investigation, the CBI court has finally slapped 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to 'rapist' Baba Ram Rahim Singh. Right from the victim Sadhvi who complained against Baba to journalist - who was later killed - many have worked to bring the "fake" baba to book. Not many know that it was Mulinja Narayana, a Kannadiga who investigated the rape charges against Baba.

Narayana, a Kannadiga from Manjeshwar in Kasargod district is now a retired officer. When he took over as the joint director of CBI in Haryana in 2007, he took up the case of Baba Ram Rahim following the orders of Haryana and Punjab High Court, reports Kannada Prabha.

“Though the case was filed in 2002, the investigation had stopped. After the case was handed over to me, the CBI officer who handed over the case himself asked me to close the case. Several politicians, MPs, MLAs and Dera supporters had told me to stop the investigations. They even threatened me. But I did not stop because the High Court was in my favour,” reports Kannada Prabha quoting Narayana. “In 2009 with great efforts we located the victims and recorded their statements. Ram Rahim was very scared when he appeared before me. He was pretending that he was not affected and posing as a baba but in real he was trying to hide his fears.”

He said despite several hurdles, finally the case has come to a logical conclusion.
