JDS stands firm on Mayors post

The JD(S) is steadfast on getting the Mayor’s post, exactly like last time. Whether it will stand its ground till the end is to be waited and watched. A daylong meeting was held chaired by the party State President HD Kumaraswamy. It is reported that the members expressed their dissatisfaction with Congress to Kumaraswamy.

Speaking to newspersons later, Kumaraswamy said that the members had expressed their demand that the Mayor’s post should go to JD(S), this time. The performance of the Congress in the past two years is inappropriate and unsatisfactory. Only during election, they change their stand. If the Congress leaders think that their party is indispensable to JD(S), then they are mistaken, rued the JD(S) leader. There is no such indispensability to JD(S). Discussions will be held with party Supremo HD Deve Gowda and a decision will be taken in this regard, soon, he said.

Despite the BJP obtaining majority, it was Congress-JD(S) joined hands to stake claim to keep the Saffron party out. As a result, Mayor G Padmavathi of the Congress was made the Mayor and M Anand of JD(S), the deputy Mayor. Padmavathi's term is set to end on September 28.
