Karnataka: JD(S) builds new team to prepare for poll

  • JD(S) has released the list of office bearers, designating them new responsibilities.
  • The decision was approved by a Core Committee meeting held on Aug 17.
  • 25 State VPs, 26 general secretaries, 12 secretaries, 25 joint secretaries, 47 coordinating secretaries appointed.

JDS builds new team to prepare for poll

JD(S) has started making poll preparations and released the list of office bearers, including former minister H Vishwanath, who recently quit Congress and joined J D(S), by designating them new responsibilities, reported Kannada Prabha.

Vishwanath who was once a close associate of chief minister Siddaramaiah has been given the post of chairman of Publicity Committee and Idea Log.   Former minister Bandeppa Kashampur is the chairman of the Parliamentray Executive Board, State Legal Unit chairman is M P Ranganath, State Political Affairs committee chairman is H C Neeravari,  State Women’s Unit chairperson is Arshia Ali, executive president Prabhavathi Jayaram have been appointed.

The decision was approved by a Core Committee meeting held on Aug 17, chaired by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.  A separate committee has been formulated for Bengaluru and MP Kupendra Reddy has been appointed as the Bengaluru City Supervisory Committee. MLC T A Saravana, MLA Gopalaiayh, Bengaluru City president R Prakash, and Anvar Shareef have been appointed as members.

The number of posts of vice-president, general secretary, secretary, joint secretary have been increased with an intention of according organising responsibilities to the leaders.  Hence 25 State vice-presidents, 26 State general secretaries, 12 State secretaries, 25 joint secretaries and 47 State coordinating secretaries have been appointed.

Separate executive committees have been formed under Party Supremo H D Deve Gowda and State president H D Kumaraswamy to quickly and effectively implement the Party’s plans and activities. Muslim community has been given priority in view of the election.  Various responsibilities have been accorded to 34 members.  From Vokkaliga community 14 are given positions. Lingayat 11, Kuruba 2, Christian 3, Reddy Lingayata 2, SC 3, Jangama 1, Veerashaiva 2, Bunts 1, Balijiga 2, Banajiga 1, Bovi 1 and Bhillava 4.

H D Deve Gowda has given strict instructions to all office bearers to engage in Party capacity building, failing which they will be removed.  The Party has decided to set right its lapses and surge forward on equal footing with national Parties like Congress and BJP.  

With an aim to strengthen the Party seven teams have been set up led by various leaders. Each team has been given the responsibility of a district. Speaking at a press meet on Monday Deve Gowda provided the details of various activities of the Party.

Team led by MLA G T Deve Gowda (Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagara, Kodagu districts), MLA B B Ningaiah team (Chitradurga, Shimoga, Davanagere, Mangaluru, Udupi districts), MLA Kona Reddy team (Raichuru, Yadagiri, Bidar, Kalburgi districts), MLC C R Manhar team (Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru rural districts), former minister Alkod Hanumanthappa team (Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkote, vIjayapura districts), former MLA Patel Shivaram team (Tumakuru, Hasana, Chikkamagaluru, Ramanagara distrcits), and member of Upper legislative house Kantharaj team (Hubli-Dharawada, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Koppala, Bellary districts) will take charge. These teams will meet H D Kumaraswamy once in 15 days and update.

H D Deve Gowda said though the Congress is leading in a private survey and BJP has Mission 150, he would start from zero. He said the Party had not come to a standstill even when Siddaramaiah, Jalappa and Sindhya were not there and only B L Shankar was there.
