The quiet locality on the outskirts of the City, Ullal, is turning out to be the drug den of Bengaluru with a huge quantity of weed stocked up there. The Byadarahalli police who were investigating the Sunday's shootout incident - where an inspector was assaulted while arresting the suspected drug peddlers - have been told that half of the weed supplied to Bengaluru comes from this godown, reports Kannada Prabha.

On Sunday, a team of police led by inspector KP Satyanarayan were on their way to arrest suspected drug peddlers when one of the policemen was assaulted with a knife. The police had to open fire to save their colleague and eventually, they managed to arrest seven persons. Constable Subbareddy has sustained severe injuries to his left shoulder. During the investigation, the police were told that a house in Venkatappa Layout had been made into a godown of the drugs.

According to Kannada Prabha, suspected drug peddlers Wasim and Hamid allegedly set up the drug godown at Venkatappa Layout. Also, Kartik, a native of Tamil Nadu took to take care of the 'supply network'.

It is reported that Kartik had terrified the local residents for questioning his "trade". He had a good network of informers in Venkatappa Layout and Manganapalya who would alert him whenever they spotted police in the locality. This, in fact, helped the gang to carry out their illegal trade without much difficulty, reports Kannada Prabha quoting investigating officers.

According to the police, engineering colleges and Bangalore university campus were the main targets for the gang. According to the report, the gang would sell 100 gm of weed to Rs 300 to the students.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the weed is being transported from Odisha to the godown. The police have arrested one while transporting the weed from the railway station to the godown and is being interrogated. The police are now on the look out for Hamid and Kartik.
