Indira Canteen faces Vaastu dosha at BBMP?

  • Officials at the last minute cancelled the programme
  • The chosen location is said to be not ideal as per the Vaastu law
Indira Canteen faces Vaastu dosha at BBMP

The State government's ambitious Indira Canteen project is finding one or the other hurdles to go ahead and this time it is the 'Vaastu dosha' (flaw). The canteen was planned next to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) at its main premises. And on June 3, foundation stone was supposed to be laid for the canteen. But the Mayor asked the officials not to go ahead over there. It is alleged that the location of the canteen was not vaastu compliant, reports Kannada Prabha. The Indira canteen modelled on the lines of Amma Canteen was announced in the last budget.

While the Congress government is planning to bring out a legislation to prevent superstition and the rituals associated with it, the Palike officers are allegedly following blind beliefs and this was evident when they cancelled the scheduled event on June 3. Earlier, the canteen was marked to come up at the left side of the BBMP office. But later, the officials - it is said - found out that location could hamper the prospects of BBMP as it was not ideal as per the Vaastu laws. With no other alternative, the officials are now scouting for another ideal location, it is said.

When mediapersons questioned, the Palike officials feigned ignorance over the issue. Rubbishing the reports of Vaastu compliant, Mayor said "There is no truth in it. BBMP building is a heritage structure. I did not want to cause damage to it by constructing a canteen next to it. So, I suggested to shift the location."
