Energy Minister DK Shivakumar was woken up to a rude shock on Wednesday when the officers of IT department knocked his doors.

Here is an account of developments which occurred during the day.  

1) IT department team reaches DK Shivakumar's house at 5.30 am

It all started at 5.30 am when the Income Tax Department officers started gathering around DK Shivakumar's residence, and Eagleton Resort by 5.30 am in the morning. First, they entered the resort and checked DK Shivakumar's room. Then they entered his house at Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru at 7 am.

2) 7.10 am phone seized

The IT officials entered DK Shi's house, and the first thing they did was to seize his phones thus cutting the minister off from communicating with anyone outside his house.

3) 7.30 am records in DK Shivakumar's room seized

The officers first checked the documents in his room booked in the Eagleton Resort. From bed to racks to wardrobes to every corner of the house was checked thoroughly. Earlier, they had searched his brother who is also a politician, DK Suresh's room in the resort.

4) Brought inside the house from back door

From Eagleton Resort to DK Shivakumar's house in Sadashivanagar he was brought with tight security. As his house was surrounded by supporters who were staging a protest against the IT raid, Minister was brought inside his house through the back door.

5) 8.30 his house in Sadashivanagar inspected

The It officials started searching DK Shivakumar's house at 8.30 am. They are searching each room, drawer, not leaving even a corner unchecked.

6) Delhi house of DK Shivakumar Rs 6.6 crore in cash seized

Earlier reports said that Rs 11 crore was seized from minister's house in new Delhi. Then later the IT officials clarified that it was not Rs 11 crore and sources have now claimed that Rs  6.6 crore in cash was found in the New Delhi House of the minister.

7) DK Shivakumar wife, father-in-law, questioned

DK Shivakumar's father-in-law was taken to an undisclosed location for questioning and then after some time was brought back to the house. Later, his wife and son were also questioned.

8) Gold owned by minister's wife and son seized

The reports said that after questioning DK Shivakumar's wife and son, the gold they had amassed was seized.

9) Supporters stage protest

Meanwhile, supporters of  DK Shivakumar were a sttaging protest in front of his house and were shouting slogans against the IT department.

10) Congress High Command asks supporters to back off

But soon Karnataka In charge of Congress party Venugopal instructed the protesters top back off. Following the direction from the high command, the protesters withdrew the stir and started leaving the place.

11) Video recording of the raid by IT officials

To ensure fair checking, the It officials are recording their every moment and whatever they are seizing from DK Shivakumar's house.

12) Possibility of FIR being filed against DK Shivakumar

The sources are of the opinion that following the recovery and seizing of cash and documents, a FIR against DK Shivakumar might be filed later today or tomorrow.

13) Raids also conducted against close aides of DKS- astrologer, driver, sister

Following the raids on DK Shivakumar's house the IT officials also conducted raids on the houses of his astrologer for 30 years, his driver, brother DK Suresh, sister, close aide Ravi and others.

From sister's house allegedly Rs 10 crore worth gold and Rs 10 crore worth cash has been seized. The gold is said to have brought briefly before the announcement of demonetisation.

14) IT raid to go on for at least three more days

There are speculations that IT raids on DK Shivakumar's house will go on for at least three more days where the officials will try to find more documents on illegal properties.

15) Security to be present overnight

The police personnel providing security outside the house of the minister have been asked to continue duty overnight. Thus the raid is expected to continue without any break. The security has been beefed up and will be continued following the ruckus created by the followers of the minister in the morning.
