Here is actor Prakash Rajs answer to protests against him

Prakash Raj (Prakash Rai) has received the prestigious Shivarama Karantha Huttura Prashasthi award given away by the Dr Shivarama Karantha Trust in Udupi. The BJP and is staging a protest against giving the literary award to Prakash Raj citing the reason that he had called PM Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi as better actors. They also alleged that Prakash had not spoken for Karnataka on the Cauvery issue.

However, many people have welcomed the selection of Prakash Raj for the award. Amidst protest, Prakash has arrived in Udupi to receive the award.

He has said that "They have a right to protest. No one is asking them not to stage a protest. But I was very close to Karanth Sir (Karanthajja). I am really proud to receive the award given away in his name."

The protesters have gathered in front of the programme venue with black cloth at Karantha Theme Park, Kotatattu in Udupi. However, the police have taken these protesters to custody and have been taken away from the event venue.   

He was criticised for his vocal support to journalist Gauri Lankesh and demand to bring the accused who killed Gauri to book.
