The first ever heli-taxi service was launched on Friday by the Union Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha. Currently 2 helicopters will fly from Peenya, Electronic City,  Old Airport. The number of copters will be increased based on demand in the next 3 months. The fares are not yet finalised for the 2 helicopters with 5 seater and 13 seater capacity. Heli taxi service will be available to commuters at the fare of a luxury taxi.

The first ever heli-taxi service of India was launched on Friday by the Union Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha to facilitates commuters to Kempegowda International Airport. Currently 2 helicopters have been assigned for taxi service which will fly from Peenya, Electronic City, Old Airport. Service from Majestic will start soon. The heli-taxis will be adjusted to the flight timings. The fares are not yet finalised. The heli-taxi service has been launched in collaboration with Thumbi Aviation Private Limited. The 2 helicopters have 5 seater and 13 seater capacity.

Minister Jayant Sinha expressed that it will ease the traffic snarl who want to reach airport on time. Speaking at the launch on Friday he said Kempegowda International Airport which is known for its quality services in the country will get a better reputation with the heli taxi service also added. He said it is going to be a boon to commuters who get stranded at the heavy traffic. Calling this a mega plan to facilitate commuters the Minister assured there will be no more anxiety of missing flights.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Industries R V Deshpande said the City is fast growing and heli taxi service is essential and it will be available to commuters at the fare of a luxury taxi. He too expressed his happiness at the upgraded facilities provided at Kempegowda International Airport, making it one the best airports in the country.
