Speaking to the Times of India, the boyfriend said, "We attended a late night party hosted by a friend. We had consumed alcohol and decided not to ride bike. So we booked a cab and directed the driver to pick us from JB Nagar bus stop, which is a stone's throw away from the friend's place. A man, wearing a black T-shirt, suddenly came near her, kissed and ran away. I was looking at my mobile phone when the incident happened and the miscreant vanished in the darkness."

The complainant and the girl are from Bihar and came to Bengaluru 2 years ago.

Similar incidents of molestation have been reported previously too. The New Year eve teasing is a case in point. Women celebrating on the streets of Bangalore were harassed in a mass scale and cops had a difficult time handling the crowd of drunk hooligans who were treating women inappropriately. Recently, an Ola driver was arrested for misbehaving with a woman at 2 am when she was returning home from a pub at Koramangala 5th block.

While that is one version, there are other reports that suggest a different circumstance when the incident happened. According to a report by the Deccan Chronicle, the woman travelling alone and had just got down at the JB Nagar bus stand from a cab. As she was preparing to walk down to her house from there, two bike-borne miscreants kissed her. Before she could react, the two men fled.

JB Nagar Police, who are investigating the case said that they have no clue where to start the investigation, except for the fact that one of them was wearing a black T-shirt. Police reportedly said, "We are investigating the case. We tried to find CCTV cameras for the footages to get clues. But there are no CCTV cameras in the area where the incident occurred."
