HC orders removal of Prestige Apartment gate blocking public access

HC orders removal of Prestige Apartment gate blocking public access

The High Court has issued orders to BDA to remove the gate constructed by Prestige Estate Projects Pvt Ltd at Sadaramangala by encroaching the 8 feet RCDP public road and making it private blocking public access, reported Kannada Prabha.

The Prestige Estate Company has encroached upon public road and constructed a gate preventing public access and making it exclusive for the use of Prestige Shanthiniketan Apartments. D R Gopinath and other locals had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) opposing this.

Inquiring into this PIL on June 2, the High Court had issued orders to Prestige Company to remove the gate. However the company had not abided by the HC order.  Hence, justice S K Mukherjee and justice P S Dinesh Kumar issued an order to BDA to take action to remove the gate and make it open for public access within 10 days. It also ordered the BDA to submit a report and posted the hearing on Sept 1.
