HC comes to the rescue of 8 RTE students after school in Marathalli denies admission

FollowThe Karnataka High Court has come to the rescue of eight students who were denied admission by a private school at Whitefield in the City, despite seats being allotted to them by lottery under the Right To Education.
The Marathalli MVJ International School denied admission to Yojit D Naik and other seven aspirants and they had approached the court. Justice S Sujatha, under a single judge Bench, heard the complaint and instructed the Public Instruction Department to immediately admit the students in the neighbourhood school. Since the students were already allotted seats by lottery, they should not be asked to participate in lottery system once again, the HC instructed the Education Department.
Advocates arguing for the students presented that the MVJ International School was denying seats to the students as it was a marginalised education institution. Hence, the students should be accommodated in other neighbourhood schools, he appealed.
After hearing, the Bench ruled that despite seats being allocated in the MVJ International School, the students must be accommodated in other neighbourhood schools, in the third phase.
