Governor dances to Gujarati song

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai R Vala, who is known for his silence and soft speaking nature, surprised everybody when he danced to a Gujarati song at Shravanabelagola.

On Friday a colourful program was organised at Shravanabelagola on the occasion of Chaturmasya of Jain monks. Gujarati youth in colorful attire were displaying extraordinary dancing skills.  The Governor was watching them with keen interest and soon he got so inspired that he said, in Hindi, I want to dance. (Mai dance kartha hoon).

For that Seer of Shravanabelagola Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji happily replied ‘please do’ (Keejiye).  Even before he could say that the 75 year old Governor got up and walking across the police guards went and joined the dancing boys and girls and danced with them for 4 minutes, to the beats of a Gujarati song.  Thundering applause by the gathered people cheered him.

Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, litterateur Dr Hampa Nagarajaiah, Minister A Manju, MLAs C N Balakrishna, A M Gopalaswamy and other clapped enthusiastically and cheered the Governor.
