A man along with his gang resorted to goondaism at night in Yediyuru by breaking glasses of cars parked, brandishing swords and attacking residents. The police fired at the gang and injured the leader of the gang. He is under treatment at the hospital. Banashankari station inspector who received injuries when the rowdy attacked him is also under treatment reports Kannada Prabha.

Vishnu alias Bhoja (24) of Thyagarajanagara and his associates Pramod, Siddaraju, Sushanth, Mubarak and Darshan alias Dasa started breaking glasses of cars parked first at AK Colony at 10 pm. Again at 10.20 pm, the gang arrived in bikes at Yediyuru lake, broke car glasses and brandishing swords at residents of Garadi Apartment. They even assaulted some. From there they went to Thyagarajanagara and found Vishnu’s rival Praveen sitting inside a car and talking to friends. The gang attacked them. Praveen escaped but his friend Anand was injured. Vishnu later went to Deve Gowda petrol bunk with his associate Pramod and the rest of the gang went their respective homes.

DCP South Dr Sharanappa arrived at AK Colony and formed a team with four inspectors led by Jayanagar ACP Srinivas. Based on the information provided by locals it was confirmed that Vishnu gang was involved and at around 3.30 am the police got a clue that Vishnu was near Deve Gowda petrol bunk. Inspectors Paramesh and Shekhar went there. Vishnu tried to escape and swung the sword on inspector Puttaraju injuring his hand. Inspector Shekhar immediately fired in air and warned Vishnu to surrender. When he did not yield and tried to escape Shekhar shot him on the left leg. Vishnu was taken into custody and admitted into a hospital. The other five were also arrested. Search is on for another accomplice. The police have registered a complaint against Vishnu.
