Man's kiss in public forces girl to commit suicide

FollowA girl jumped into a canal and died because a youth had forcibly kissed her at Ganesha festival in Hanumapura Tanda, Ranebennur taluk, Haveri district, reported Kannada Prabha.
Reshma Peerappa Lamani (19) had gone to see the Ganesha festival in the village. A youth by name Santosh Lamani also had come to the festival. He caught her and kissed and escaped. She was deeply disturbed by the incident and jumped into Tunga Bhadra Upper bank canal and died.
A complaint has been lodged by her family and police are on the lookout for Santsoh Lamani.  Enraged by her death the family and villagers seized the police station and demanded that Santosh should be arrested immediately. They also held a Rasta Roko on P B Road for over an hour.
Santsoh Lamani had earlier made the same mischief with other girls. The family and villagers insisted that until he is arrested they would not hold the last rites of the girl. The police convinced them that they would arrest him and persuaded them to conduct the last rites.
