A gang of 4 stole an ATM machine inspired by a Hollywood film and got arrested, reported Kannada Prabha.

Shivakumar (23), Keerthi Kumar (22), Rakesh (22), Sridhara (21) of Mandya had arrived in Bengaluru in search of jobs some months ago. They wanted to get rich in a hurry. Hence decided to steal from houses.  But changed their mind thinking the people will be put to great difficulty and also they would be caught easily and decided to steal from ATM.

On Nov 1 at midnight the 4 went to an ATM unit of State Bank of India, Gottigere, destroyed the CCTV cameras attached to the unit and took away the ATM machine that had Rs 7.85 lakhs.

Supervisor of Scientific Security Agency Nagaraju had lodged a complaint regarding this with Konanakunte police station. One of the accused Shekhar was working at a cook in a hotel in J P Nagar. In recent times his life style had undergone a drastic change. He had started wearing expensive cloths and spending money on fancy stuff. He was also not regular in his job. Having collected information about this the police took Shekhar into custody and interrogated him. He blurted out the truth.

Earlier the gang had attempted to steal from an ATM machine at Banashankari limits and had failed. It was revealed during interrogation that the gang was watching Hollywood films for several weeks to learn how to steal an ATM machine. They had several DVDs of English films.  Investigating officers said they had burst into the ATM centre, assaulted the security guard and taken way the machine.
