A 63-year-old former sub-inspector has been accused by his 17-year-old adopted daughter for sexually assaulting her for the last three years. The accused has been identified as Anand Kumar, who was a sub-inspector with the Bengaluru City police.

The 17-year-old girl, who currently lives in an NGO was reportedly adopted by Kumar a few years ago. She alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her foster father for the last three years. Kumar adopted the girl after his daughter passed away due to health issues. Kumar has allegedly began sexually abusing her when she was 13.

According to reports, it is said that Kumar would threaten the girl saying he would put her out of the house if she revealed to anyone that she was being assaulted and continued misbehaving with her. Later, the girl ran away from home. She was found sleeping at a bus stand by a passer-by who handed her over to an NGO.

On December 18, the minor girl narrated the entire incident to her caretakers and told them why she left home. The NGO officials later brought the girl to the Nelamangala police, where she filed a complaint against her foster father. Anand Kumar was arrested and handed over to judicial custody.

According to recent reports, the accused confessed that he would force his wife and other members of his house to visit their relatives in order to find opportunities to assault the girl. The accused was later shifted to Parappana Agrahara central prison.
