Now BJP enters food politics with Shetty Canteen, but who will win the race?

FollowYou will still have to pay Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively for breakfast and lunch in Indira Canteen by the Congress government and JD(S) Appaji Canteen. But BJP's Krishnaiah Shetty has opened Shetty Canteen in Kolar district and provides breakfast, lunch for free.
Appaji Canteen was inaugurated in Bengaluru in a hurry even before Indira Canteen by Congress government was inaugurated. Now, the only major party left in Karnataka to announce something similar was BJP.
But no more, now former minister Krishnaiah Shetty, BJPP leader has opened a canteen at Malur in Kolar district which will provide free food to people. If people have to pay a minimum of Rs 5 and Rs 10 in Indira and Appaji canteens, Shetty Canteen offers food for free.
But this has made many small traders who run food shops on small vehicles angry. As they also provide food at a nominal price, this canteen has hampered their business.
However, it doesn't look like any party cares about feeding the hungry and needy but are trying to take political mileage through these canteens.
Though there is no news about the Appaji Canteen, it is said that each Indira canteen will soon serve 1,500 people. But Indira canteen is yet to get clearance from the food quality checks.
Coming back to Shetty Canteen, it is situated at the Tekal Railway Station in Kolar. Krishnaiah Shetty was not in the news for a while now. But he has come into the picture just before elections with his newly constructed canteen which provides free lunch, breakfast for people from 5 am to 10 pm.
Sources said that Krishnaiah Shetty is a BJP ticket aspirant from Malur. Will his free lunch, breakfast have an impact on the people, only time can tell.
